The conversion of a ground floor and basement commercial unit resulted in this contemporary styled 3 bed maisonette with garden in North London. Testing challenges of dealing with light to the basement bedrooms and unusual vaulted ceilings lead to thinking about spaces in un-conventional ways. Concealed lighting, exposed feature lighting and accent colours all help to reinforce the time, energy and care that has gone in to the execution of the project.
On the ground floor an open plan living, kitchen and dining space defines the character of the flat. The kitchen work top runs the full length of the space cutting up the steps to the mezzanine living space where it becomes a low level storage unit for the living room. The garden extends out from the kitchen via a timber decked staircase which leads to a paved entertaining area with matching hardwood furniture.
