Local residents get their say with Romney Close
Within the last few weeks, a Public Consultation has been carried out to discuss a new proposal at Romney Close in Haringey. The Close has an area of land that is prone to fly tipping and misuse, and is unused by the local residents. Working closely with Haringey Council, Unit One Architects have developed a scheme that was presented to the local residents for their views and comments before a submission for Planning Approval. The scheme well received, with the residents requesting an addition to the scope of works to include a wider landscaping strategy to the wider site. This would provide improvements to the amenity areas for the existing residents as well at to make the whole Close more welcoming.
3 new flats, each with 2 bedrooms, capable of serving 4 people were proposed, creating a positive contribution to the Close and the outlook of the local residents.
The siting of the scheme has been designed carefully so that it respects the site’s large mature tree root protection zone, as well as the existing block of flats at Romney Close. A shared amenity area is proposed to the rear of the new block to improve the outlook for residents, as well as a renovation of the ad-hoc parking area to the front.
Submission of a Planning Application has a proposal date to be submitted in November 2019, with an outcome in early 2020.
